SAS Ai, Inc. high school Freshman Mariella Tacho and her family live and work the land in Barangay Pula, township of Tagudin. She attended Ag-aguman Elementary School where she graduated third (First Honors) in the overall class rankings. Her father, Mr. Manuel Longoria and her mother, Mrs. Leonora Tacho live as common-law husband and wife. Mariella is the eldest of three children from this common-law marriage arrangement. Manuel Longoria is a farmer by trade. He supports the family planting cash crops in between rice planting seasons and in the off season delves in other minor work as a laborer to supplement the family income. Leonora Tacho is a housekeeper and brings in no wages. In her scholarship application, Mariella issued a corroborated sworn statement that although she may have relatives who work abroad, her family gets no financial help from any of them - not as gifts, presents, or outright monetary assistance.

At school Mariella consistently ranked high in the upper 5% of the class maintaining her place in the school honor roll. At graduation from elementary school her grade point average was at 92.20%. In her graduating class Mariella held the highest score in Math with a 96% GPA (grade point average). Among some of Mariella's achievements is her District level participation in the Science and Math Quizbee placing well within the 3rd percentile. In her application f0r the SAS Ai, Inc. scholarship assistance program she stated that she dreams one day to become a teacher - a very noble profession.
