A report from Alfredo J Somera, Local Liaison Officer based in San Juan, La Union and member of the Field Team

To the Members of the Board:

Together with Vicky and Albert, we had conducted a meeting with the 12 scholars at the SAS Covered Gym at 4:00 p.m to 5:00p.m., July 2, 2010.

Among other things we discussed were:
  • The observance of the organization's rules and regulations for school
  • Emphasis on adherence to the SAS Ai Code of Discipline, like in the observance of protocol.
  • All concerns, be it educational or personal must be coursed thru the field team officers Vicky Chua, Albert and Remy.
  • That in no occasion should they by-pass the Field Team.
  • That their usage/utilization of the computer/internet is strictly educational and should they be found using it otherwise would mean cancellation of their privileges on the Internet.
  • We emphasized that going to these websites: Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, MySpace and the like especially for personal reasons is NOT Allowed.
  • We emphasized also their duties, responsibilities and obligations for the schools, classrooms, with SAS Ai should be their primary objective.
On the lighter side, we asked them how do they felt on their first days of school and they said it was just inspiring, exciting and they feel more blessed than the other students considering their benefits they are enjoying as SAS Ai Scholars. Also, we observed that their shyness (during our initial interviews) has already been overcome with self-confidence and a positive attitude.

We asserted to them that not only SAS Ai has great expectations of them but the entire town of Tagudin since they are already well known as the scholars from a prestigious organization. We reminded them also of the importance of maintaining at all times the observance of humility, self-respect and respect toward others.

We encouraged them also to use their time in the Internet to write a few words describing their accomplishments and the results of their scholastic activities on a weekly basis to the BOT.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:15 p.m. as we were concerned about the safety of the scholars going home.

By the way, I am attaching one photo of the meeting for your file. A little blurred perhaps because it was my personal phone that was used. Our official camera encountered a low bat status. Vicky will share with you also her reports on the meeting. Thanks!

Fred.
