Jonas Garcia
Jonas Garcia
Jonas Garcia is from Barangay Gabur. There are three children in the family and Jonas is the youngest. His father is a family driver in Manila with a meager monthly salary of PhP2000 only. His two older brothers attend Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC). Jonas' mother is the Barangay Treasurer with a monthly salary of PhP1800 pesos. He wants to be a successful Engineer someday. Jonas' favorite subject is Mathematics with an average of 88%. When we asked him simple questions, such as, converting decimals to fractions, he was a little slow in answering but we realize that sometimes students draw a blank in front of other people specially when put on the spot. This sort of reaction comes under nervousness and is by no means a good indicator of one's academic ability or skill. Jonas is a bright boy and has a good  future and we want to help him achieve that future.

Jessa Lastimosa
Jessa Lastimosa
Jessa Lastimosa is from Barangay Salvacion. She has a tendency to become a little emotional, perhaps from joy or elation, but displays self-confidence while answering our questions. She has an 87%+ general average in the 3rd grading of her junior year. Her father passed away only last April of this year (this might be the reason of her being emotional). Her father was a farmer by occupation. Jessa's mother is a housekeeper. They sold the irrigated land her father took care before he died in order to survive financially. Since her father's passing, her aunt and uncle help financially in her tuition. She has an allowance of PhP30 including her bus fare going to school, going back home for lunch then going back to school. In the afternoon she just walks home. Her ambition is to be a nurse someday.

Sharen Mae Munar
Sharen Mae Munar
Sharen Mae Munar is a fine young lady from Barangay Ag-aguman.  Hers has been a life of hard work and personal sacrifice. Her father has to stay in Isabela working there as a farmer because that is where the land is abundant. Her mother is a housekeeper, often resorting to borrowing money to cope with family expenditures. The Munar Family seldom receives financial help from relatives.  Although the applicant (Sharen Mae) is presently an ESC grantee – a form of financial assistance from the government wherein Php5,000.00 is given to a recipient for tuition fee - this program is not binding and should not take away from her, her due recognition of being needy. Sharen Mae’s daily school allowance (including bus fare) is Php60.00. She got a final grade of 85.75% in her third year or junior year of high school. She is serious, sincere in her goals of achieving a high school education.
