"Chess Champion!" exclaimed the game judge presiding over the local intramural chess tournament. "We have a new champion... young lady, what is your name?"

"Ina Gabaldon, Sir," she replied rather shyly. Ina's facial expression was solemn, the lenses of her eyes dilated registering full interest in the ensuing interview.

"And how many games have you won so far?" asked the judge.

"All three, Sir," Ina replied confidently. In all three games, Ina won all three. If this had been a boxing match it would have registered as 3 & 0. Perhaps even something like this "3 TKOs versus 0 loses".

All of us here at SAS Ai are beaming proudly for Ina's achievement and we congratulate her. Chess is a game played with not only confidence but brains. Emotions have no place in Chess and it ends with one's passion for the game. Look at Ina's countenance. She is deep. I bet you she thinks profoundly about things and critically. You see, chess is a game of strategy, tactics, maneuvers, foreknowledge, analysis of the situation and looking ahead a couple of steps down the road. By just the way the board is layed out the chess player knows what the opponent is thinking, what the opponent is likely to do to blunt any move that may prove detrimental toward success.

Congratulations Ina. We will be closely following your progress.

We also heard that Sharen Mae, one of our senior high school scholars joined the intramural Volleyball team that has been winning. Congratulations Sharen for contributing to the success of the team and for doing a good job. We hope your team emerges as the champion.
